The Friends of OldTown Coldspring was started in 2018 with the purpose to manage and operate the Old Town Site immediately north of the Old Jail Museum and all properties situated thereon; to encourage and foster the preservation of San Jacinto County's unique architectural and environmental heritage.
We believe our traditions and remembering the way of life in our past is important. It must be preserved and passed on. We, also, believe that without a conscious effort to preserve these memories they can easily be lost in the fast pace and noise of today's culture. We invite you to join us in our efforts to restore and preserve the buildings known as Old Town Coldspring. We want the public and future generations to be able to "step back in time" and enjoy this rich historic treasure.
We host vendors on the Courthouse Square every 4th Saturday including guided tours on the 2nd and 4th Sat. of the month. Our special celebrations can be found on our Facbook page San Jacinto County Historical Commission and Haunted Jail Coldspring.
Our website sjchistorical.org offers more pictures and information regarding our activities. Upcoming events include: Oct. 18, 19, 25, and 26 is our popular Haunted Jail with actor in ghoulish attire to scare the bejeezus out of you and your friends. Adults $10 kids $5 for a great Halloween fund raiser. The Fall Festival at Old Town is on Oct. 26 and is FREE to all with arts and crafts, music, food and fun.
